What is N-Acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc)?
GlcNAc is a sugar necessary for the communication between the cells in our body.
How can N-Acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) help people living with PGM3-CDG?
The PGM3 protein is responsible for making the active form of GlcNAc (UDP-GlcNAc). Defects in the PGM3 protein cause GlcNAc depletion. Thus, GlcNAc supplementation restored its levels inside the cells. A clinical trial (NCT02511041) to study the effect of GlcNAc in combination with uridine was done between 2015 and 2017. However, no results have been published yet.
Publications in CDG are constantly growing. We have selected articles of special interest for you, see below. Not all are open access, thus if you wish to access the full information, please contact us at https://worldcdg.org/contact
